This workshop was facilitated by Ms Pauline Wright, Councillor, Law Society of NSW and Ms Jane Partridge, Senior Policy Officer Planning, LGSA.
The range of issues discussed included:
- that the objectives of the current Act were considered quite good
- the need for long term, integrated hirearchical strategic planning - statewide, regional and local
- the need for ecologically sustainable developement to be an overarching principle of the new Act
- the importance of public participation in the planning process
- the importance of sustainable planning
- that there is currently a lack of certainty for developers and this needs to be addressed.
